NBA Insider Reveals Brutal Details Of Ja Morant Suspension

Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant was suspended 25 games without pay for NBA misconduct.

The two-time All-Star brandished a gun again on IG Live. For the first incident in March, Morant was suspended for eight games.

Morant should make $33.5 million next season. Brian Windhorst of ESPN thinks he might lose more than $300,000 each game during this suspension, or $7.5 million.

In July 2022, Memphis extended Morant's rookie deal for five years and $194.3 million.

This season, he averaged 26.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 8.1 assists while shooting 46.6% from the field, 30.7% from beyond the arc, and 74.8% from the line.

“Ja Morant’s decision to once again wield a firearm on social media is alarming and disconcerting given his similar conduct in March for which he was suspended eight games,” NBA Commissioner Adam Silver stated Friday.

Ja's behavior could be emulated by other youth is worrisome. We feel a 25-game penalty is appropriate and shows that reckless gun use is not tolerated.”

The Grizzlies may need to sign or trade for a point guard this offseason as Morant will miss the first 25 games of 2023-24. Memphis lost to the Lakers in six games in the 2023 playoffs' first round.
