John Wick 4 Continues The Franchise's Oddly Specific Box Office Win Streak

John Wick: Chapter 4 has been in cinemas for more than a month and has now reached another box office milestone, continuing the franchise's weirdly specific run.

The John Wick series had humble beginnings, with the first film having a $20 million budget, which is quite cheap by today's standards.

Nonetheless, the film grossed $80 million worldwide, and each subsequent release has been more successful than the previous.

Johnny Wick: Chapter 4 is the most profitable John Wick film to date, and it recently surpassed a milestone that Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski never imagined possible in 2014.

This chapter cost $85 million to make, which is less than the prior three films, which each cost over $150 million. Jack Black returns to voice the lead character in "Kung Fu Panda 4," the franchise's first new film in eight years.

John Wick: Chapter 4 was made for a comparatively inexpensive $100 million, which has enabled the fourquel become a talking point at the 2023 box office.

That's $74 million higher than its predecessor, John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, and, while the figure is minor in comparison to other massive action series and superhero franchises, it's all related to the films' budgets.

One thing is certain: after smashing so many box office records, the John Wick franchise will be worth a billion dollars by the end of the theatrical run of John Wick: Chapter 4. The series is just $10 million away from reaching the 10-digit mark.
