Dallas Cowboys May Sign Pro Bowl Receiver In Bargain Deal

Hunter Renfrow, a Pro Bowl receiver and former Los Angeles Raider, may join the Dallas Cowboys in a cheap trade to spice up free agency.

Renfrow was released by the Raiders before the new season and may join Dallas. A source said the Cowboys were interested in a cheap deal after his release. After a dismal season, Renfrow may be out of choices, but the Cowboys may still be interested.

Since he signed a two-year, $32 million Raiders extension in 2022, the release may be unlikely. Renfrow caught 103 catches for 1,038 yards and nine touchdowns in 2021.

He led the locker room and made his first Pro Bowl. His future looked bright until his production halted.

Renfrow missed seven games in 2022 after signing a new deal due to injury. He returned to the team but wasn't himself again.

The year ended with 36 catches for 330 yards and two touchdowns. Last offseason, the Raiders added Jakobi Myers, DeAndre Carter, and Tre Tucker as receivers.

Though healthy for all 17 games in 2023, Renfrow's role with the team eventually declined. He had a career-low 35% offensive snaps and caught 25 receptions for 255 yards. Renfrow was released to save the Raiders money because he had no reason to return to Las Vegas.

CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks will start for the Dallas Cowboys, but WR3 is uncertain. Since Michael Gallup is tradeable, the Cowboys will move on. Gallup is unlikely to find a trade partner, therefore he may be released before his guaranteed money arrives. They would have unproven possibilities like Jalen Tolbert, KaVontae Turpin, and Jalen Brooks.
